The medical practitioner commonly selects the professional bleaching system to whiten the stained tooth. But commonly, based on the patient's tooth condition the dentist decides on the method. Before using the whitening products he will cover the gum area with a gel that will protect it from the bleach. Once the gum is properly shielded he will apply the whitening products to remove the stains from the teeth.
The most commonly used product is hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. These help in breaking the ingredients covering the tooth, once the ingredients break down into minute pieces, the oxygen then easily enters into the enamel and slowly the color becomes lighter. The lightening process takes about four weeks to complete. First you dentist will make a mouth-guard and will take impression for that. Once he prepares the guard he will begin the treatment which includes applying the whitening product for two to three weeks. It takes about 30 minutes to one hour in each sitting. Today many pharmaceutical companies have introduced new and effective products which can be applied for eight hours and thus the treatment will be over in just a week's time.
Some other effective ways of teeth lightening are by using laser therapy or power whitening. In this treatment procedure a dam rubber is used to cover and protect the gums from the bleaching products. After covering the gums a light or laser is flashed on the teeth and thus the chemical is activated. Then the light increases the reaction pace of the products and thus the color changes swiftly. Today many uses the laser technology as it helps in lightening the teeth up to five to six shades and in a very short time than bleaching. The effect of such treatments last for two to three years and then slowly fades as per the food habit of an individual.
Teeth whitening treatment is a special way of removing the stains and food particle deposits on the teeth through a chemical treatment. Dentists use the laser technology to treat the teeth and remove the stains quickly. The process is not completely painless sometimes local anesthesia is used. Once completed, teeth will appear stunning white for few years before it is again stained by irregular food habit.
